On Sunday evening, December 24th, everyone is invited to Rocky Hill Baptist church for a Christmas Eve candle service & communion.

TRIP FROM CLOUDLAND

This past Monday Gail Smith & Christine Pace left all this snow and went to Greer, SC to pay Martha Ray a long visit. By the time they got to the bottom of the mountain there wasn't a speck of snow on any trees, and hardly any in the shady area of the ground! The temperature got up to 58 degrees in Greer; on the way home Gail & Christine mentioned they had almost forgotten about snow. That is until they made their trip back up 'Cloudland (aka: Cedar Mountain) and there it was! Though it did get pretty warm in Cedar Mountain on Monday as well, there was still plenty of snow left to slip, er sled on, or make snowmen from. "Or snow cream!" suggested Gail.

In Greer, with Martha, we ate at Acropolis which has delicious Greek & Italian dishes, but no chocolate! So for desert they drove across the parking lot to a place called "GiGi's Cupcakes" and each bought a cupcake to devour back at Martha's lovely home. Martha Ray is wife to Pastor Dan Ray, who recently made his trip to be with Jesus. She is missing him greatly, so welcomed our visit.

That same evening (Monday) was the funeral services for Barry Jones, held in Greenville, SC. Barry's wife Charlotte is sister to Rosemary, Patty & Beth and Ralph all of Cedar Mountain. Prayers of comfort go to all who are spending their first December without their loved ones.

CHRISTINE’S CORNER

SNOW! We got snow! Lot's of it!! Cedar Mountain and even Brevard got 11-14" of beautiful white snow this past week! Schools were closed last Friday and this Monday and had a 2-hour delay Tuesday. But so far I haven't heard of any power outages from our readers, which is amazing! We "may get a dusting" more this week but too late for this column. Winter is here! Stay warm and safe please.

AROUND THE HOUSE

It is not yet time to make a New Year’s resolution but I hereby resolve to keep my kitchen counter free from clutter. This resolve has lasted a week but it’s been a struggle. My counter is a “drop zone”. I have a tendency to open mail and stack what I think I should probably read but never do and the pile gets deeper. Then the pile gets transferred to my kitchen table where it resides for awhile. Sometimes I think if I trashed it all I’d never miss it.

What’s happening with you or in the community? We’d love to hear what’s going on, if you would like to share. Please email your news to cedarmountainnews@gmail.com by 6 pm on Monday this week. Photos are welcome as well.
