SOUPER SATURDAY COOK-OFF

Mark your calendars and get those recipes ready for the Cedar Mountain Community Center's Souper Saturday Soup Cook-Off and (new this year) Dessert Cook-Off on January 25th at 5pm. There will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes in both categories. A donation of $5 per person and a can of commercial soup are requested. The monetary donations will go to help the Cedar Mountain Fire Department, and the canned soups will go to a local food bank. You will receive two tickets to vote for your favorite in each category. It will be a great time of food and fellowship.

If you want to enter the soup and/or dessert cook-offs, please email Suzanne Lawson at minniesc@hotmail.com with the name of your entry/entries, and she will prepare signs for the entries. The information will be kept in strictest confidence until the voting is over. We look forward to seeing you then.

RENT THE CENTER

The Cedar Mountain Community is already booking rentals for next year. The center has a capacity of 150 standing and seating for 100. Our center is the perfect place for your reception, party, family reunion, business meeting or other activity.

You could get married outside on our beautiful patio and have your reception at the Center. It can also be used as a dressing room for outdoor weddings. Food can be prepared in the commercial kitchen or you could have it catered by local professionals.

The interior of the center was refreshed with a new coat of paint last summer. Ceilings were repaired and repainted and ceiling fans and lighting were replaced. It looks terrific. Come and see.

To rent the Center call Caroline Chambers at 828-290-9662.

AROUND THE HOUSE by Linda Young

Nozees fans have been asking about him so I will bring you up to date. Nozee is my adopted tuxedo cat whose is aptly named. He has his nose in everything. His latest thing is watching TV. His favorite spot is in the middle of the TV screen of course. There is just enough room for him to park himself where I can’t see my closed captioning. He loves scenes with kitchens. He tries to “get” the knobs on the cupboards.
