CEDAR MOUNTAIN NEWS FOR THURSDAY, OCTOBER 15, 2020

SPAGHETTI SUPPER FUNDRAISER

Due to the inclement weather, our Spaghetti Supper drive-through fundraiser wasn’t as well attended as we hoped. We want to thank everyone who braved the weather, picked up dinners, and often gave an additional donation as well. We are waiting for pledges to come in and hopefully, there will soon be enough to purchase the LUCAS Chest Compression System. Any donation to the Cedar Mountain Fire/Rescue Dept will be appreciated.

Thanks to everyone who worked hard to make this fundraiser possible.

LUCAS CHEST COMPRESSION SYSTEM

The proceeds of the Spaghetti drive-through will go toward the purchase of a LUCAS Chest Compression System for the Cedar Mountain Fire/Rescue Dept. When a heart attack occurs in a remote location it is nearly impossible to perform adequate CPR over rough terrain especially in remote locations such as the DuPont State Recreational Forest. This device will give consistent chest compressions under any conditions and increase the chance of survival.

CEDAR MOUNTAIN HISTORICAL CALENDARS

The 2021 calendars are for sale at Whistlestop, Creekside, the Cedar Mountain Cafe, and the Hiker and the Hound for a donation of $15. Stop in and get yours now before supplies run out.

BLOOD DRIVES

The next blood drive will be on October 17th. There will also be a blood drive on December 19th. Blood drives are held between 8:30a and 12:30p at the Cedar Mountains Fire Dept. Those whose lives have been saved by your donations thank you.

League results for Oct. 12 - Monday's play was the last day of the regular season. Three women played for the club championship on the back nine - Peggy Baldwin, Georgia Osterc, and Nancy Waclawek. The club champion for the second year in a row is Baldwin, who won with a 34. Nineteen women played the front 9 with just three clubs. After their rounds, the women gathered for a celebratory luncheon under the tent at Cedar Mountain Cafe. League play will resume in April 2021. Watch for announcements starting in March, or contact Gloria Clouse, league president, at gmgrclouse@aol.com for details.

AROUND THE HOUSE by Linda Young

How can it be that summer is gone? Seems like only last week it was spring.

The leaves are coming down like rain and I will need to get help with some yard work soon.

I hope the leaves hang in there till next weekend. A friend and I plan to check out the colors on the Blue Ridge Parkway. It is supposed to be sunny which would be nice for photographs. If it is you might see one in the news.

This pandemic has done a time warp on me. I even forget what day it is sometimes. The worst thing was missing an appointment it took me 6 months to get. I need a personal assistant to keep me on track. Ha.

Thank you for reading the Cedar Mountain News. Your contributions and comments are encouraged and welcome. We’d like to hear what’s going on if you would like to share. Photos are welcome as well.

Please email your news or any questions to Cedarmountainnews@Gmail.com by Monday evening
