CHICKEN DINNER
Our annual chicken dinner fundraiser is to be held at our community center on Saturday July 25th from 5pm to 7:30pm. Volunteers are needed to set up, tear down and help with preparation in any way you can. Please call 885-7878 and let us know how you can help.
CARSON CREEK BAPTIST
Carson's Creek Baptist Church will have a BBQ and Singing Fundraiser on Saturday, August 1. BBQ will be available beginning at 5:30 pm, and "Mark 209" will begin their concert at 6:30. All will be available for donation, with all proceeds to benefit Southeast Asia Missions. For more information, please call the church at 828-883-8509.

CMCC Flea Market
Cedar Mountain is the place to be on Saturday August 15th. We will have the Cedar Mt Community Flea Market on Saturday 9am – 12pm
All tables and spaces are reserved, but if you would like to be put on the call list, in case of cancellations or for future flea markets, please call Linda Young at 877-5407.
CMFRD OPEN HOUSE AND BBQ AUG 15TH
Open house begins at 8:30am with the Blood Mobile on site. The Blood Mobile will be at the Cedar Mountain Fire Rescue Dept from 8:30am to 12:30pm.
The BBQ will be served from 11am – 2pm. Donation is $5.00 for kids 12 and under and $8.00 for adults. The meal will include BBQ, Potato Casserole, Slaw, Rolls, Chocolate chip peanut butter cookies and tea. CMFRD is now preparing BBQ to order as well.
MOUNTAIN GOURD GATHERING
Time is getting near for this year's annual "Mountain Gourd Gathering", and several classes are already filled! The dates are August 13 thru 15, the Family Life Center building next to Rocky Hill Baptist Church. Everyone is welcome to come by on Friday or Saturday from 9am to 4pm. Gourd art and blank, cleaned gourds will be available too.

When you have finished visiting all the events you and the family can get a cold drink and cool your tootsies in the creek at the Cedar Mountain Canteen. The Canteen is located next to the fire department on the corner of Cascade Lake and Greenville Hwy.

REUNION
The descendants of Janie and Solomon Jones held their annual reunion at their home, The Happy Place, on July 4. Cousins, first, second and third enjoyed one another’s company but due to the rain they only had 52 in attendance rather than the 70+ last year. The Happy Place is Alton Taylor’s former home on Janes Lane off Solomon Jones Rd.

As a service to the community we have now installed Free Wi-Fi, Internet and Cell service at the community center. No password needed just drive up to the building and you are set to go.

The Cedar Mountain Community Center Sports Court is temporarily closed for resurfacing. More details next week.

ROCKY HILL CHURCH
Rocky Hill Baptist Church! There were trees and big forest boards and oh so much more. On Sunday morning the children performed several songs they learned last week to a packed auditorium. It was a wonderful week!
The vacation bible school decorations were left up for the quarterly meeting of the Transylvania Baptist Association this Tuesday, which was held at Rocky Hill. A dinner was served prior to the meeting and the choir performed two songs for visitors.
FRIEND IN PRAYER Many remember Lynne Baldwin who was very active when she lived in Brevard, though she moved four year's ago to be close to her daughter and her family in Illinois. Last week Lynne came here for a visit, only to spend the week in Asheville's Memorial Mission hospital! A heart valve that had been replaced prior to Lynne's move to Illinois was leaking and caused her to faint! Though she drove here her orders were to fly back to Illinois, where she will follow up with surgery to repair the valve. Arrangements were made and Joe and Christine Pace took Lynne to Asheville's airport last weekend. She made it home OK and said the airport had a wheelchair waiting for her at her layover in Atlanta. Please keep my dear friend in prayer!
CHURCH FLEA MARKET AUGUST 8th
Rocky Hill is planning to hold a flea market on Saturday August 8th and welcomes anyone who wishes to reserve a table at $10 each. All proceeds will be used to help a local family with in need of roof repairs. Donations are accepted as well. If interested call Christine at 885-2103 and she will give your information to Patricia Smith, organizer of this event.
AROUND THE HOUSE ~ Linda Young
All my appointments and activities are really wearing me out. I have exercise class at Rocky Hill Mon, Wed and Fri. Physical Therapy Tues and Thursday and this week I had choir practice Wed, Sat and at 8:45am just before church services Sun. I need a vacation.
I’m really looking forward to a road trip to Maine in the fall and plan to do a diary on it along with photos. I’ve been all over the continental US except New England and it’s time I went.
