BLOOD CANCER UNITED FUNDRAISER

Many in Cedar Mountain and beyond have been touched personally by cancer. One of our community members, Deb Hincewic is fighting back.  This is her story:  In November, after two weeks of symptoms, she had a life-changing diagnosis: non-Hodgkin's Mantle Cell Lymphoma.  As a lifelong caregiver, Deb never imagined she would be the patient.  Deb was hiking, playing Pickleball, Mah Jongg, golfing and living a full, active life until cancer threw her a curveball.  There are others in our community fighting their own personal battles with cancer which is why I am participating in a 3 day bike tour to raise money for Blood Cancer United, formerly known as the Leukemia and Lymphoma Foundation.    Today, thanks to innovative treatments and services our friends afflicted have real hope. Research and new therapies are changing lives. .

Deb is very active in Cedar Mountain and has many close ties to the CM community.  She plays golf with the ladies at Sherwood Forest.  She played Mah Jongg at the community center.  She and her husband Mike were active volunteers in the Cedar Mountain community helping in the clean up efforts after Helene.  They also regularly attend the music events at the Canteen and the Distillery.

The financial burden on those with cancer is real—travel expenses, insurance premiums, and exorbitant medication costs.  Many families need help just to stay in the fight.  Please donate any amount you can to help in this fight.  Click on the link below to donate today.   On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere I thank you for your support!

AROUND THE HOUSE by Linda Packer Young
