SHERWOOD FOREST FRIENDS

Welcome to the 2021 Summer Series. This year we have a great selection of speakers to lead us onward and upward. The season begins August 7th at 7 pm with Summer Series veteran Caroline McIntyre (Rachel Carson) as she brings to life the courageous story of Mary Draper Ingles' escape from Shawnee slavery.

During the Perseid Meteor Shower, two meteorite experts from NASA and Rice University in Houston, will tell us what secrets these visitors from space hold.

A Perseid skywatch is also scheduled.

Closing out the season will be Michael Castelaz, Ph.D. with a program about celestial discovery. Will mankind ever live on Mars?

All events are FREE and begin at 7:00 pm at the Robin Hood Barn. Donations welcome.

AROUND THE HOUSE by Linda Young

Not around the house for the past few days. We went to Williamsburg, VA for a family reunion. It was great meeting all of my extended family members to be. What a wonderful bunch of people. The reunion was held at a large pavilion in a local park. Among other things, we played a game called Horse Race. It was fun. I’m not a gambler but I made $2.00. Yeah! Then the sky darkened, we started hearing thunder, and everyone cleared out fast. We just made it to the hotel before the downpour. It was much too hot to do much outside Tuesday but we really enjoyed the inside pool at the hotel.
