CEDAR MOUNTAIN NEWS FOR THURSDAY 11-30-23

CEDAR MOUNTAIN HOLIDAY ARTISAN MARKET

The market will be held on Saturday, December 2 from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 2 locations this year: Cedar Mountain Moonshine will host outdoor booths and Cedar Mountain Community Center will have indoor vendors as well! Over 25 artisans! Come get your shopping done early with these amazing local vendors! There will be a Kids Corner, where Santa will be ready to take pictures with you! While you’re waiting your turn, enjoy some hot cocoa and write your letter to send to the North Pole!

MCGAHA CHAPEL CHRISTMAS

The doors of the McGaha Chapel in Cedar Mountain will once again open to the public for the annual Christmas caroling on Sunday, December 3rd. Decorated with mountain greenery, the Chapel will be open to visitors at 1:30 p.m. and caroling will take place from 2:30 p.m. until 3:15 p.m. Dress warmly as there is no heat in this beautiful old church building, once known as the Little River Methodist Chapel. It is located on US Hwy 276 South across from the Sherwood Forest entrance. Churchgoers in 1872 would have traveled on the Johnstone or Brevard Turnpike which ran behind the building and farther away from the Little River. US 276, originally NC 284, was not built until the late 1920s. Follow the signs along Hwy 276 to the parking lot and shuttles at the Robin Hood Center in Sherwood Forest. There is no parking available on the Chapel grounds.

Following the sing-along homemade goodies, hot apple cider and coffee will be awaiting us in the warm Robin Hood Center located across Hwy 276. Shuttles from the Center to the Chapel will begin at 1:45 p.m. and will return visitors to the Center and parking lot after the singing to enjoy the holiday refreshments. We look forward to singing with you!  This event is sponsored by the Transylvania Historical Society and the Sherwood Forest and Cedar Mountain Communities.

AROUND THE HOUSE by Linda Packer Young

Not much to say this week.  My honey and I have been ill for over a week now.  We tested negative for Covid and RSV but whatever bug this is it is hanging on.  Thank goodness we have an ample supply of face tissue.
