CHRISTINE’S CORNER by Christine Pace What a busy time of year! Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Practices for Rocky Hill’s cantata continue, along with various holiday “doings”, so I am thankful for good health. A one-day trip to my son’s house in Matthews, NC was the day after Thanksgiving. His wife’s parents & sister & other Brazilian friends were there, freezing in our cooler weather. It was great fun playing a board game with everyone talking in Portuguese. Not fair to me, but fun anyway. Several hadn’t seen me since my hair grew out white! I was given a new nickname of Mrs. Claus. In leaving my son’s house that evening I saw a herd of deer just around the corner from his house! No red-nosed deer, so Santa wasn’t around. Back home, I took my 2 pups to the dog park on Saturday. I needed to walk off some of the Turkey dinners from Thursday & Friday. In the large dog park, there were oodles of ‘doodles; Goldendoodles, Labradoodles, and Bernedoodles. What a beautiful sight. And a beautiful day, in a beautiful dog park! Just me & my 2 were in the small dog park, but we all got exercise. My good friend just moved from California to St. Petersburg, Florida. She closes on a condo on December 9th. She’s been gone for over 8 years! I’m hoping to visit her several times a year via Allegiant Airlines, which flies direct from Asheville to St. Pete at a great advertised rate: $49./one way. Any suggestions? Sometime after mid-February, weather permitting, I hope to drive to southern Indiana to pick up a puppy not yet born. I love road trips, and driving, but tend to drive only if it’s less than 500 miles now. That’s why I’m looking into Allegiant Airlines for Florida trips. Next week I’ll list December birthdays & anniversaries so if you want yours listed please let me know. You can email me at: chris_p_artist@yahoo.com or call (828) 885-2103

AROUND THE HOUSE by Linda Packer Young

We went to Clayton, GA, for a craft show last Friday. There was a young woman there who created art with the bones of roadkill animals. She and I both liked the old show called Bones where beetles were used to clean bones. (I still watch reruns of that show.) This young lady uses beetles as well. Bizarre but very interesting. I think she was a bit surprised that I was so interested in her work. Most folks would cringe and walk away.

We were invited out for Thanksgiving and it was wonderful. Especially taking home leftovers I didn’t have to cook. Many thanks to our gracious hostess for such a great time and a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner.

We did get out to do some yard work and clean up the area around the garage door Tuesday. It looks so much better. We stacked the Adirondack chairs but need some big tarps to cover them. Wish we could have burned some leaves but there is a burn ban. We just hope a wind doesn’t blow them all back where they were.

Thank you for reading the Cedar Mountain News. Your contributions and comments are encouraged and welcome. We’d like to hear what’s going on if you would like to share. Photos are welcome as well. Please email your news or any questions to Cedarmountainnews@Gmail.com by Monday evening.
