CEDAR MOUNTAIN ROTARY CLUB by Cathy Haupert
The Holidays are here! We will be having a very short meeting of the Cedar Mountain Rotary Club for the last meeting of the year. The most important item on the agenda is presenting Bill Pollock with an Honorary Membership. After that is completed the meeting will conclude and will be enjoying a meal. You are encouraged to bring your spouses, significant other and guests. Please let me know if you plan on attending and how many will be in your group. The location of the meeting is the Cedar Mountain Community Center, 10635 Greenville Hwy, in Cedar Mountain. The meeting on December 15th will begin at 5:30 pm. You can contact Cathy Haupert at 607-280-0889 for information.
CEDAR MOUNTAIN BLOOD DRIVE
This holiday season give the gift of life by supporting the Red Cross with a blood donation at the Cedar Mountain Fire Rescue Department, located at Cascade Lake and Greenville Hwy (HWY 276) in Cedar Mountain. Join us on Saturday, December 13th from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Appointments are encouraged and can be scheduled by calling 1-800-733-2767, but walk-ins are welcome as time allows.
SILVERMONT READERS’ THEATER
On December 19 at 1:30 pm the Silvermont Readers’ Theater will be performing for the public at the Silvermont Mansion, 364 E. Main Street in Brevard. They will be doing numerous skits including some with holiday themes. Admission is free but a small donation to Silvermont is always welcome and appreciated.
THE SEE OFF COMMUNITY CENTER DECEMBER POTLUCK/HOLIDAY PARTY
The party will be held a week earlier this month on Sunday, December 14. Event starts at 5:30 pm with time to socialize for a bit before eating at 6:00 pm. After dinner... sing some carols and enjoy the spirit of the season! There is no speaker for this one… just a celebration of the season and our community. Photo of Christmas themed appetizers for inspiration!
Decorations: Robin McCain and Lesin Dippold will be at the center at 4:00 pm on Saturday Dec. 13 to clean up a bit and decorate. If you would like to help out, please come on by!
*Bring your own plate/cup/utensils if you can – it reduces our contributions to the landfill.
Hope to see you there! Warmly, Your See Off Community Center Communications Elf

MCGAHA CHAPEL CHRISTMAS CAROLING
There was a great turn out for the sing-a-long at the McGaha Chapel last Sunday. Santa was there to the delight of the kids in attendance and the adults too. Happy carolers are seen exiting the church.

REPAIR CAFE
Lots of folks showed up to get help with nonfunctioning appliances. Linda Young brought in her rug shampooer that quit suctioning water after being cleaned. It works great now. Thanks to Cedar Mountain Canteen for hosting the Repair Cafe. Kim Coram mentioned that the Repair Cafe will no longer be held in Cedar Mountain and that another location in Brevard will be used from now on. So sad to see it go.
RENT THE CENTER

AROUND THE HOUSE by Linda Packer Young
Here’s what’s happening.
If you borrow enough money to make needed home repairs, the sink faucet starts leaking, the dryer stops drying, two smoke detectors start beeping, both cars need repairs, dishwasher isn’t draining and fluorescent bulbs burn out... It's as though these things "know" when it's time to malfunction and what you planned to do with the money goes "whoosh".
At least our new handicap ramp and deck remodel is finished thanks to contractor, Jose Gonzales. I don’t think there is anything he can’t do. He and his crew did a fine job.
