We invite you to visit us and explore our website to experience the richness of community we offer. Learn more here: https://cedarmountaincanteen.com/appalachian-culture/

SEE OFF HOMESTEADERS POTLUCK

Sunday March 15, 2026 Doors open/socializing starts at 5:30pm and dinner starts at 6:00pm. Everyone is invited to attend our monthly community potluck! Folks should bring a dish to share as well as their own plate, utensils and cup as a means of reducing landfill waste. There is always plenty of delicious food, so all are welcome regardless of your ability to bring a dish to share.

This evening's presentation will be from Henri Boyea, owner of Radon Control Products in Hendersonville. Henri will tell us more about the dangers of Radon gas (the number one cause of lung cancer in nonsmokers), where it comes from, the fact that we are in a high risk area, and what we can do to manage our exposure to this radioactive gas. This is a presentation that can save your life.  Please come.

AROUND THE HOUSE by Linda Packer Young

NO BAT

The weirdest thing happened on the morning of 3-3-26.  An agent (wearing a badge and uniform) from a pest control company (name withheld) came to my door to aid in the removal of a bat in my bedroom.  She had my name and address correct but the phone number she had was not ours and we had no bat in the bedroom. She left but came back to the house a few minutes later to reverify her information.  She said that they were called at 7 am for help with a bat in a bedroom.  She returned later in the afternoon to apologize and said that they had finally figured out where the call came from.  We learned there are at least 3 Linda Young’s in the area and it was an error on their part.  The right one finally got help with her bat problem thank goodness.
