CEDAR MOUNTAIN NEWS FOR THURSDAY 4-22-21

SHEFFIELD PLACE CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENT

The date for the first annual charity golf tournament has changed to Saturday the 24th at the Sherwood Forest par 3 golf course. Proceeds will go to the Western NC Down Syndrome Alliance. The tournament will be held at the Sherwood Forest Golf Club at 29 Cardinal Road 15 minutes southeast of Brevard off highway 276 (Greenville Hwy). Matt Kuchar, golf pro, has donated two signed hats and a signed Master's flag to raffle off. There will be a multitude of other prizes donated by local businesses.

To book a tee time call 828-884-7825

Morning tee times are from 9 am to 11 am. This session is designated for individual low gross with prizes for closest to the pins. Afternoon tee times are 12 pm – 2 pm. This is a two-person scramble also with prizes for low gross and closest to the pins.

The entry fee is $40 and Mulligans can be purchased at $5 each with a limit of 2 per golfer. For those (like me) who don’t know, a mulligan is a stroke in golf that is played from the same spot that a player hit their previous stroke, looking to re-do the prior shot without penalty. In other words, golfers use Mulligans to wipe out the previous shot and consider it to have never counted.

AROUND THE HOUSE by Linda Young

My honey and I worked on the flower garden this weekend and it is looking good. The plants seem to like their new location and it certainly was nice to have help. The potted plants are now arranged and prepared for the possible frost. It will be much easier to cover them where they are now.
