CEDAR MOUNTAIN NEWS FOR THURSDAY 5-25-23

ROCKY HILL OPENS FAITH CHAPEL

Faith Memorial is a lovely wood & rock chapel nestled among a beautiful native garden, the open sides allow one to see the beauty and hear the birds.

As is customary, Cedar Mountain’s Rocky Hill Baptist Church will open the season at Faith Memorial Chapel this Memorial Day Sunday. Faith Chapel is located on Stones Lake Road in Cedar Mountain and is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day each year.

The pastor of Rocky Hill Baptist Church, Dr. Leland Holland, will bring the message following the musical opening by the Rocky Hill choir. You may contact Rev. Holland at (828) 862-5611 for more information. A variety of pastors & denominations lead the worship service each Sunday during the warmer months.

After Labor Day walls are put up to enclose & protect Faith Chapel until the next year. This is a huge undertaking and has a large congregation of workers & attendees who welcome any & all to come and enjoy this special Chapel-In-The-Woods each Sunday for 11:00 am worship.

CEDAR MOUNTAIN MOONSHINE/STUDIO276 ART&CO.

A beautiful May is blooming all around us and that warm summer air is energizing! Music & Moonshine nights will start back at Cedar Mtn Moonshine/Studio276 on Friday, May 26 from 6-8 PM. It’s a free, family-friendly, live music event every Friday through the end of summer--all you need is your own chair! Sarah Dearbaugh has been busy painting a mural on the side of her building that’s dedicated to Cedar Mountain. It’s packed with little scenes that will take the viewer down a very colorful memory lane! The mural is open for a swing-by selfie anytime. Enjoy!

Thank you to Cedar Mountain Fire & Rescue for donating their retired hoses to form our parking lines! We put them to good use and can already see the benefit of having a little extra structure (and added safety) in our parking lot. Looking forward to another summer in Cedar Mountain with you!

THE CEDAR MOUNTAIN CANTEEN

CEDAR MOUNTAIN FIRE RESCUE BBQ

A BBQ lunch will be served on Memorial Day Weekend Saturday, May 27th from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm at the fire station. It will be a busy weekend so come early - we could run out. Everything served is homemade!

Preparations are underway for another BBQ lunch fund-raiser at the Cedar Mountain Fire Department. It is great to see the firefighters and members of the auxiliary come together to work side-by-side in the planning & preparation of this big event.

New volunteers for the fire department and auxiliary are always welcome! Call Candy Gray at (843) 991-2734 if interested.

AROUND THE HOUSE by Linda Packer Young

Hopefully when you read this my honey and I will be sitting on a dock teasing fish with various baits. It’s been a lot of years since we have fished. I am used to an old-fashioned rod and reel, but my honey will be trying his skills at fly fishing. I will be drowning worms while he flings flies. I brought in most of the blossoms from my peonies before we left so we could enjoy them for a few days. They would have been gone when we got home.
