CEDAR MOUNTAIN COMMUNITY CENTER

Are we ready for this? We certainly are! Our first potluck dinner (in a long time) will be Monday, June 14th. Food and table set-ups, among other protocols, will be used. The most recent NC COVID guidelines allow groups of up to 100 people. Food needs to be on the serving tables by 6:15 pm, dinner starts at 6:30 pm.

There will be a presentation by Kent Wilcox starting at 7 pm entitled “What’s the Reason for Reasonover”. Cedar Mountain residents agree that Reasonover Road was named after Reasonover Creek, but the reason for the name of Reasonover Creek is shrouded in folklore about some hermit or law evader who long ago figured out a reason to cross the creek. An extensive search of historical records going back to 1710 has revealed the true origins of the name of Reasonover Creek.

FLEA MARKET FUNDRAISER

The flea market is back too. This year it will be held on Friday, August 20th from 5 pm – 7 pm, and Saturday, August 21st from 8 am – 11:00 am at the Cedar Mountain Community Center. Vendors should contact Linda Young at linday28718@gmail.com or call 877-5407 for details and table reservations. All proceeds benefit the community center.

BBQ

The Annual Cedar Mountain Community Center benefit BBQ will be on Monday, October 11th.

JONES REUNION

All members of the family and close friends of the family are invited to come to share good food, fellowship, and the retelling of old family stories.

AROUND THE HOUSE by Linda Young

This is not a promotion, but my honey brought his Shark Vacuum over for me to try. I had vacuumed with my old Hoover upright the day before, but I could have built a whole cat from the cat hair the Shark extracted from the carpet. I was so embarrassed. Now we are shampooing. I don’t require visitors to remove their shoes at my home so it really needs it.
