REPAIR CAFE
Transylvania Shares, a sharing library, hosted a repair cafe in collaboration with WNC Repair Cafe and the Cedar Mountain Canteen. Community members came together to repair broken items for attendees. A highlight was the restoration of a 4-year-old's favorite jellyfish night light, bringing her great joy. Sewing machines, clothing, an antique radio, and other devices were also skillfully fixed by the many volunteers, leaving them in better condition than before. Most importantly, it was an opportunity to meet new neighbors and strengthen community bonds. Another repair cafe will be scheduled soon!
CEDAR MOUNTAIN CANTEEN
HELENE STORYTELLING
Share your stories about Helene at the Canteen Friday September 26 at 6:30 pm or come and listen. As we near the one year anniversary of Hurricane Helene we hold in our hearts the love and community we experienced and continue to experience. The Canteen would not be open if it wasn’t for all the volunteer labor, help and donations our community provided and continues to provide. We still have a lot to do to get back to where we were. We want to take a moment and celebrate how far we have come in the past year because of our community.
We are hosting an evening of storytelling on September 26th and a community potluck. We will be recording the stories (unless you don't want it recorded) and will share them on our Canteen TV station. Please join us as we celebrate the strength and love of our precious village.
With deep gratitude, The Cedar Mountain Canteen.

AROUND THE HOUSE by Linda Packer Young
Last Thursday brought the most delightful surprise. Richard (Honey) and I went to Falls Landing to celebrate our 4th wedding anniversary, and after being seated, we noticed several members of our church nearby. Among them was Rev. Jean Rowe, the minister who married us. She came over to our table, and when she learned why we were there, she asked if we’d like to renew our vows. Naturally, we said yes and renewed our vows right then and there. As the group prepared to leave, they surrounded our table and sang "Happy Anniversary" to us. It was such a magical and memorable evening. Thank you, everyone—it truly was an exceptional evening.
