CHRISTINE’S CORNER by Christine Pace

CARE & CONCERN

Our Rocky Hill Baptist Church pastor, Dr. Leland Holland, came through his heart ablation at Mission hospital in Asheville on Monday very well, and spent the night there. His wife Deb stayed overnight with him.

The Blue Ridge Baptist Church was filled last Saturday during the memorial service for 61year-old Chris Baines. The 3 Bishop Brothers; Wayne, Myron, & Lenoir, honored their childhood friend with several great old gospel songs. Chris’s wife Renee Baines & their children Brandon and Katie were blessed by all the love shown for Chris. He will be missed.

Funeral services for Jimmy Owen were held Wednesday, January 18th. He is the father of Odell Owen (wife Antje) and loving grandfather to Kaitlyn Owen.

Both church and personal prayer lists seem to grow during the winter months, as there are more viruses, and falls, and illnesses born from being indoors so much especially with artificial heat. If you can, just a little time outdoors in the sunshine each day is said to improve ones overall health by leaps & bounds. Not that you should leap or bound outdoors alone. Finding more than two days in a row with sunshine seems tricky too. If you are “stuck” indoors these cold months please keep in touch with friends, neighbors, or family. We want our Cedar Mountain Community to stay well!

AROUND THE HOUSE – by Linda Packer Young

We plan to escape the frosty weather for a couple of weeks next month with a trip to Florida. The Infirmary (motor home) is getting some much needed maintenance in the meantime. There is a leak by the air conditioner on the roof and one of the water lines froze and broke a couple of weeks ago. We are also having them repair a booboo that happened on its maiden trip home from Winston-Salem in the dark. The bushes along the driveway got it. We have since trimmed those naughty bushes.

I discovered that, Sharon, my bridesmaid from 1964, runs a trailer park in W St. Cloud. She has invited us to stay a few days. It’s on a lake too. I haven’t seen her for many years so this will be a double treat. We also hope to visit relatives in the Tampa area as well.

My honey says one of the campgrounds even has a hot tub! Yeah! We just hope the weather is pleasant.
