FAITH MEMORIAL CHAPEL
Faith Memorial Chapel welcomes folks of all denominations to our services, held on Sundays at 11:00 AM. We meet only in the summer and have no membership roll, so you won’t feel like a guest. Each Sunday, we have clergy from different churches that visit us to lead the service and we are blessed to also have great music to accompany the great message!
On May 25th, we welcome Charles Clifton “Cliff” McKnight. Cliff McKnight serves as the pastor at Rocky Hill Baptist Church in Cedar Mountain, NC.
Music this Sunday will be provided by the Rocky Hill Choir.

WHITE SQUIRREL WEEKEND IS MAY 23-25
In case you forgot or didn’t know this was happening in Brevard, mark your calendars now.
Lots going on. Don’t miss it.
SING-ALONG ON JUNE 7
Raise your voice in song at the McGaha Chapel annual summer sing-along on Saturday, June 7. The Chapel will be open to visitors at 1:30 and the program will begin at 2:30 p.m. Don’t worry if your skills are not ready for show time, more adept vocalists always carry the tune, sending old favorites echoing through the 1872 structure. After singing, stick around for a refreshing watermelon social. Park at the Robin Hood Centre (70 Robin Hood Road, Brevard) or the adjacent barn lot. Shuttle service to the Chapel will be provided by Sherwood Forest Woodcutters or you can enjoy a short, albeit hilly, walk to the venue. Shuttle service will begin at 1:45 p.m. and resume after the event. This free, annual event, born of our neighbor Charlie Burden’s fond memories of nightly mill camp.
Sing Along, is now sponsored by the Transylvania County Historical Society, the Cedar Mountain Community, and Sherwood Forest Friends.
SOLOMON JONES FAMILY REUNION
The annual Janie and Solomon Jones family reunion will be held July 4 at Noon at the Cedar Mountain Community Center. Covered dish lunch will be followed by story telling, sharing of photos and catching up between cousins. We always welcome any friends interested in joining us for the day. Some good food and good times remembered will be enjoyed by all. Submitted by Nancy Cadora
A MESSAGE
From Gwynneth Britt, a former Cedar Mountain area resident.
Although my hubby and I no longer live in the Cedar Mountain Area, we value Linda's newsy Transylvania Times renditions of the happenings in our beloved former lovely hamlet.
We have been kept abreast of all the lows and highs in the area, thanks to Linda and the other newsy notes from other contributors in the Times, bringing back so many memories of the almost 15 years of residency, enhancing the reading each week.
And a note of my own to reiterate Linda's comments, if she is not given news, others will not be able to share in the happenings of Cedar Mountain life, and the ones far away will not have the joy they look forward to each week. So, from a faraway former inhabitant, share the adventurous life that is Cedar Mountain. Blessings to all. The Britt's
AROUND THE HOUSE BY LINDA PACKER YOUNG
Thanks for the lovely note, Gwyn. I do indeed need to hear more news from the community.
Everything green in our yard shot up dramatically in our absence. The Maiden Hair ferns are taking over the front yard and look like a beautiful miniature forest. I will be planting some flower seeds instead of potted plants from commercial sources this year. I even bought Blue Bonnet seeds. We were in Texas last year when they were in full bloom and so beautiful. Not sure they will be happy at a 3,000 foot altitude but I’m giving them a try. I am also planting Marigolds and Alaskan Nasturtiums in containers. Wish them luck.
Note: Contributions are needed. Please email cedarmountainnews@gmail.com with any news. If it can’t be used I will let you know. The deadline to submit articles for the Cedar Mountain News is Monday night. If your contribution will be later please let me know. Photos are welcome and need to be 900kb or more to be used in the paper.
