CEDAR MOUNTAIN COMMUNITY CENTER HOLIDAY POTLUCK
You missed an amazing feast. We were happy to see lots of familiar faces and some new ones too on Tuesday night. We had Baked, Cajun fried turkey, and ham. There were lots of tasty dishes and salads as well. There was so much food that a lot of us took some home. Beth Owings’s chocolate cake was a hit as always. There were several homemade pies and lots of other goodies too. No one left hungry.
A Crock Pot Cook off is planned for January. There were 25 entries last time and there is always room for more. Check out your recipes and watch for additional details.

On Thursday, November 27 @ 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm the Canteen is hosting a Thanksgiving Day potluck again this year! Last year we enjoyed a bountiful feast with dozens of people. It was a joy! We are opening our doors again this Thanksgiving Day from 3 – 8 pm. We are supplying chicken and a pork roast, provided by local vendors. Bring a covered dish to share if you are able and your own reusable place setting. If you cannot bring food or a place setting for any reason, please join us anyway. We would love to feed you.
ALSO
The Cedar Mountain Canteen has received a large donation of food to distribute. We have 25 lb bags of King Arthur flour, sugar, brown sugar, corn meal, brown rice, and a variety of dried beans. Stop by with a container and get all you want.
INDIAN DINNER FUNDRAISER AT THE CEDAR MOUNTAIN CANTEEN
Join us for an Indian dinner prepared by Tanamayi. This is a sit-down family style dinner for 12 people. It is a five course meal that includes a wine tasting. The meal is $60 a plate and a fundraiser for Transylvania Shares. Drinks can be purchased on-site during the dinner and are not included in the dinner price.
We will gather at 5:30 pm for social time and a beverage. You will be seated shortly thereafter to begin the experience. Dinner is served at 6 pm. Thank you. Bringing your own glass and place setting would be wonderful. We suggest a plate, bowl for soup, napkin, drinking glass and silverware. We will have place settings available and a sink is available to wash your place settings. AROUND THE HOUSE by Linda Packer Young
We saw a few white flakes floating around Monday on Duncan Mountain. Not ready for snow yet. I was born and raised in Northern Iowa and saw more snow than I ever want to see again. One winter the snow was so high my dad had to dig a tunnel through a snow drift to get to the garage. My sister and I made a snow igloo too which was fun. One winter here it snowed a foot or more, melted a little, and froze solid on top so thick you had to stomp holes in it to walk. I had to park the car on the road and stomp holes up the yard to get to the house.
