PANCAKE BREAKFAST A SUCCESS
We had a wonderful turnout for the pancake breakfast at the Cedar Mountain Fire Department last Saturday. It was great to see everyone, including Suzanne and Robert Lawson, enjoying the event along with others.
I want to extend a sincere thank you to the volunteers who helped put this fundraiser together and to everyone in the community who attended. Your support makes these events a success.

AROUND THE HOUSE by Linda Packer Young
We had a good and informative time at the See Off Community Center potluck Sunday night. Food was great and the program very interesting and important. It was about Radon issues and how to test and “cure” the problem.
Radon is a colorless, odorless, and tasteless radioactive gas produced by the natural decay of uranium in soil, rock, and water. As the 2nd leading cause of lung cancer overall and the primary cause among non-smokers and those who have been smokers in the past, it causes over 22,000 deaths annually. It enters buildings, especially basements, through foundation cracks. Testing is the only way to know the radon level, as it cannot be detected by human senses. The region's well water can also contain high levels of radon, which can be released into the air when showering or washing. (We have well water.)
At-home test kits cost about $10-$30, while professional testing costs between $150 and $300. Mitigation typically costs between $1,000 and $1,500.
This is only part of the information that I found and heard, so further investigation is recommended.
