AROUND THE HOUSE by Linda Packer Young

Years ago my first husband, who passed away in May of 2010, became disabled to the point we didn’t know how to get him up the stairs following a long stay in the hospital.  To our surprise a group from a local church had heard of the situation and when we got home from the hospital we found a brand new ramp had been installed.  We were astounded and so grateful to them for their kindness and generosity.  The only problem was there was no walk to it.  I created one by digging up the dirt, placing the cement pavers on bare dirt, and leveling them with dirt and rocks.  It wasn’t done properly but looked good and sufficed for close to 20 years.  We are looking forward to having a professional replace our disintegrating walkway and create a much more pleasing entry as well.  I’ll let you know how it goes.
