CEDAR MOUNTAIN NEWS FOR THURSDAY 2-23-21

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL

FROM CEDAR MOUNTAIN

CHRISTINE’S CORNER by Christine Pace

First, let me wish all our readers a Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah season. I pray for your good health, strength & comfort & healing, and joy.

CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICE

Join us at Rocky Hill Baptist Church this Friday evening, December 24th, for a Christmas Eve service and communion. The service begins at 6 pm.

CANTATA AT ROCKY HILL

This year’s Christmas cantata packed the pews at Rocky Hill this past Sunday evening, and the Family Life Center afterward was full of laughter & fellowship, Christmas wishes, and platters of delicious finger foods.

The cantata “Noel … Born Is the King”, led by Lenoir Bishop, was masterfully performed and heartfelt by so many attendees. There were visitors too from other churches who were not yet back to holding Sunday evening services at their own churches. All were gladly welcomed to ours!

Members & visitors at Rocky Hill recognize how blessed we are to have escaped so much illness from the Covid-19 variants, and we offer prayers of healing and comfort to those not so fortunate.

HAPPY WINTER

The Winter season began on Tuesday, Dec. 21st, and will end on March 20, 2022.

Easter will be on April 17, 2022.

According to the website, almanac.com winter will be “colder and dryer than normal” with below-average snowfall this year.

In my yard the leaves, though finally off the trees and raked into 2 big piles, need to be moved off my lawn; my young grandson would rather I leave the leaves. The acorns are plentiful this year!

I may have the perfect place to plant Dahlia bulbs in the spring after I get some large tree roots moved and the ground plowed. I’m not sure if I should call a tree service? I’d appreciate your suggestions via my email: chris_p_artist@yahoo.com.

Please let me or Linda know your news, visits or travels and other celebrations! Merry Christmas and an early Happy New Year!

AROUND THE HOUSE by Linda Packer Young

We have decorated all we are going to this year. Combining two households means lots more decorations. Several boxes had to be returned to the basement unused. At least I got my nativity crèche up and everybody in the cast put in place. My little 3-foot pre-lit pre-decorated Christmas tree has been extracted from its plastic bag and is now sitting on a box in the window so it can be seen. A new ornament has been added. It says “Linda and Richard’s first Christmas as Mr. and Mrs.” and shows two snow people rubbing their carrot noses.

We decided to decorate our mailbox post. To show off the garland my honey and I painted the post white. Some silk poinsettia flowers finished it off nicely. It looks very seasonal.

Thank you for reading the Cedar Mountain News. Your contributions and comments are encouraged and welcome. We’d like to hear what’s going on if you would like to share. Photos are welcome as well. Please respond by Monday evening.
