CEDAR MOUNTAIN NEWS FOR THURSDAY Febryary 10TH, 2022
Happy Valentine’s Day to all!
CROCKPOT COOKOFF
The community center was overrun by hungry Crockpot food tasters glad to be out for a fun gathering Saturday evening. Tasters came from everywhere. The winners were 1st place Patty Stahl for her delicious Broccoli Chicken dish, 2nd place Clint Owings for his incomparable Chili Verde, and 3rd place Terry Girolamo for her decadent Chocolate Lava Cake. The prizes were beautiful hand-thrown bowls in three sizes. Congratulations to these great cooks.
BLOOD DRIVE at CMFR
The next blood drive will be held at the Cedar Mountain Fire Rescue Dept on Saturday, February 19th between 8:30 am and 12:30 pm. Appointments are recommended.
Your blood donation is urgently needed. Blood banks are reportedly at a critical low point across Western North Carolina. Elective surgeries are being postponed because the blood has a more critical need elsewhere. Please come and do your part to lessen the demand.
There will also be blood drives held on April 16th and June 14th.

AttentionCedar Mountain HOAs, the Cedar Mountain Community Center needs to lock in your meeting dates for 2022 before the wedding bookings start conflicting with your request. HOAs please send an email to cmcc28718@gmail.com with your proposed date and HOA contact as soon as possible.
PANCAKE BREAKFAST COMING UP
On Saturday, March 12th there will be a pancake breakfast prepared by the auxiliary at the Cedar Mountain Fire Rescue Dept. Serving will begin at 8 am. Donations gratefully accepted.
CHRISTINE’S CORNER by Christine Pace
I have returned to my home following outpatient surgery in Hendersonville. After a few days of rest with “no lifting” I will be following my going-home instructions.
BIRTHDAYS
Birthdays in February include Beth Owings, whose birthday is on Valentine’s Day! Carl Galloway celebrates this month too. On February 4th George Mayer gained a year. Joey Pace will grow a year older on the 11th; Lee Smith follows the next day, Feb. 12th. Faith Bishop will celebrate on the 24th. Sharon Bishop and Jane VanHook share the 26th as their birthday, with Rick Skerrett barely making it in February by being born on the 28th.
ANNIVERSARY
Only one wedding anniversary for this month, and that is of Wallace & Mary Kaye Dunbar who wed on Valentine’s Day.
Looking ahead, I have no anniversaries on my list for March! If you have one, or a birthday not listed here this month or next, please let me know by at (828)885-2103 or email

AROUND THE HOUSE by Linda Young
My honey and I investigated the possibility of a motor home purchase on Tuesday. We picked a used one and took it for a test drive. It looked nice and we liked the floor plan. I drove and was totally traumatized when we got back to the dealer. It drove like a truck loaded with loose lumber. It rattled, squeaked and groaned for the entire test drive. The salesman said they all did that when driven empty. That’s very hard to believe. We will keep looking. It also has to be cat-friendly because we can’t leave our kitty kids behind if we take a long trip. On HGTV I see people picking houses because they think their dog would like it but we were looking for something cat-friendly. It doesn’t exist.
Thank you for reading the Cedar Mountain News. Your contributions and comments are encouraged and welcome. We’d love to hear what’s going on if you would like to share. Photos are welcome as well. Please respond by Monday evening.
